Allergy Testing

Do you suffer from digestive problems or low energy? Perhaps you have allergies, intolerances or sensitivities. Many health complaints are caused or aggravated by the environment, animals or household products. These reactions are unbeneficial to the body and can prevent it from healing itself, leading to more severe problems. Kinesiology "muscle testing" is an effective tool for determining sensitivities. Results are immediate and testing is completely pain free. There is no need to remove any clothing and is suitable for adults, children and babies.

Chakra Balancing

At the central core of our body spin seven main wheel-like energy centres called chakras. Chakras have the ability to receive, assimilate and transmit energy. Each chakra is a vortex, spinning life-force energy into or out of the body. In fact, the word chakra is from the Sanskrit word meaning "wheel of light". There are 7 major chakras connected to and a part of the physical body. All are located on the torso and head. Each chakra transmits and receives life-force energy often called "chi", "qi", "prana", or "universal intelligence". There are also many minor chakras, most of which are located at the joints of the physical body.

The physical body is a unit made of many different integral parts that are designed to be self-correcting. The body's job is to maintain balance and the free-flow of energy. The chakras are an energetic gateway, feeding the body pranic energy and providing an outlet for the release and dispersal of spent energy. The tools most commonly used to balance the chakras are:
  • Color
  • Crystals & Gems
  • Light
  • Sound
  • Subtle Aromatherapy
  • Touch Therapies
When you are in a state in ill health, the chakras may be distorted, out of alignment or even stagnant. When this happens, life force energy cannot flow in and out freely and the physical body may suffer. Stress, inability to express emotions, beliefs incongruent with Truth, disconnection from a higher power, unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, exposure to toxicity, etc. can cause the chakra system to close down. Each chakra resonates with a particular frequency of vibration and are an integral part of vibrational medicine. Chakras are balanced by inviting them back to their natural state of vibration & frequency.

EmoTrance

EmoTrance is based on the very simple pre-supposition, namely that emotions are not a problem, regardless of their severity or 'label' but that the way emotions are being handled in our systems is causing many problems of many kinds. With EmoTrance I will work with the energy blocks that give rise to negative emotions by focusing on the physical sensation of that energy block in the system, softening it and encouraging it to flow through and out of the body, freeing up the negative emotion.

We can also train our energy systems to respond in a more healthy and energising way to incoming energy from our environment, ie. we can change how we respond to criticism, compliments, love etc, what people say & do to us, our life experiences, thereby transforming us to a more 'emotionally healthy' individual. EmoTrance is a profoundly user friendly self-help system to manage your emotions from moment to moment.

Swedish Body Massage

Swedish Body Massage works on the physiological and psychological: the benefits have been recognised and valued since ancient times. It has been used as a therapeutic healing treatment for relieving pain and discomfort and for invigorating, soothing and beautifying the body..The manipulations stimulate the cardiovascular system, bringing fresh blood and nutrients to tired muscles. The lymphatic system is also invigorated, flushing away toxins. The nervous system is energised, releasing endorphins which generate an immediate sense of wellbeing.

A full body massage, which takes approximately 50-60 minutes, includes work on the neck, shoulders, arms, abdomen, legs and back. The treatment is easily customised to give additional attention to specific areas or to avoid particularly sensitive areas. A back, neck and shoulders massage, which takes about 25-30 minutes, generally concentrates on the upper body. This may also be adapted to concentrate on particularly stressed areas of the body.

Massage has important toning effects on the body. By relaxing the body, massage can relieve stress, tension and pain. Massage can help all body systems, including the following and many more:
  • Improves circulatory conditions
  • Relaxes muscles, improving muscular stiffness and joint mobility
  • Lifts the spirits/mood
  • Calms the nervous system and emotional issues
  • Assists in lowering high blood pressure
  • Improves skin conditions
  • Stimulates the immune and lymphatic systems
  • Aids respiratory problems
  • Helps with menstrual problems
  • Releases toxins from the tissues

Raindrop Therapy

Raindrop Technique is one of the most exciting and innovative aromatherapy treatments being practised throughout the world today. It is a truly incredible technique and has been developed as a result of inspiration from the traditions of the Lakota Indians. This native tribe traveled into Canada to experience the great wonders of the Northern Lights 'Aurora Borealis', as they believed the light from this spectacle assisted great healing to take place. They would draw this light up their spines and allow it to fill their bodies, minds and spirits. Once the border between America and Canada was created, they could no longer carry out this healing journey and so they developed a technique using feathers on the spine to mimic the light and energy flow.

Raindrop Technique is a direct descendant of this practice, using pure, organic, therapeutic grade essential oils of the highest quality - those of Young Living Essential Oils. This is the key to the success of Raindrop - the purity and quality of these wonderful plant extracts. The founder of Young Living, Gary Young, was inspired after speaking to a Lakota Indian named Wallace Black Elk, who explained the tradition of the Lakota people during the Aurora Borealis. Gary later developed the Raindrop Technique and the ten specific essential oils used during the treatment.

The technique was first brought to the UK in 2000 and it has assisted many people since then to heal from all manner of conditions, both physical and emotional. It involves dropping neat essential oils along the spine, following the French method of application. Feathering movements with the tips of the fingers are used to spread the oil along the spine and to stimulate nervous system activity. This brings about a balance within physical body, emotional body and spiritual body - in other words connecting your aura with your physical body to assist you to feel at peace within and release all that is no longer needed, to allow personal growth and harmony.

Raindrop Technique is a valuable tool for all manner of ailments. Over the years there has been great success with conditions such as Scoliosis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, ME/Fibromyalgia, back pain and depression.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy dates back to ancient Egypt, where plants and flowers were distilled to extract their essential oils. In the early 20th century a French chemist and perfumier, Rene Gattefosse, badly burned his hand whilst working in his laboratory. In an attempt to cool the burn he plunged his hand into a vat of lavender essential oil that was waiting to be used in perfume. To Gattefosse's astonishment, he found that the burn healed extremely quickly, without blistering or scarring, and he then went on to research the healing properties of other plants. During the Second World War Jean Valnet, a French doctor, used essential oils to treat the wounds of the soldiers. A French biochemist, Marguerite Maury, further developed the idea, using essential oils as an integral part of healing massage.

An aromatherapy consultation will begin with me finding out about your medical history and what you would like the therapy to achieve for you. On the basis of the information you provide, I will then mix a recipe of essential oils, which is individually designed to suit your needs. Aromatherapy oils do not have to be used on the skin to be effective. Instead, they can be burned in an oil diffuser Essential oils can also be diluted in water and sprayed into the air, or a couple of drops can be poured onto a tissue or cotton wool and tucked under your pillow whilst you sleep. Aromatherapy can be used for a variety of physical and emotional problems including stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue, pain, insomnia, coughs and colds, burns, scar tissue, digestive problems and skin disorders. Clients report that the process of having a gentle massage with aromatherapy oils is a wonderfully relaxing and soothing experience. Depending on your needs, essential oils can be used to soothe, uplift, energise, relax or stimulate.

What are the side effects and when should it be avoided?

Some essential oils must be strictly avoided during pregnancy, if you are epileptic, have high blood pressure or sensitive skin or intend to go into strong sunshine after applying the oils. Because of this it is vital that you disclose this information.

Crystal Healing

Crystals have long been powerful spiritual symbols and, today, the effects they can have on people are starting to be harnessed to treat illnesses. It is believed that crystals focus the healing energy or 'life force' and, as such, crystal healing can be used either to treat specific ailments, or for more general healing.

I use various patterns and combinations of crystals. The pattern and the types of crystals used will depend on your individual needs. The intricate patterns used are intended to activate the body's energy points. It is thought this allows the crystal energy to reach every level - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual – harmonising and healing where appropriate. Crystal healing can be used for a variety of physical ailments including, for example, migraines, digestive problems and low energy. In addition, crystal healing is often used to help mental and emotional issues such as tension, stress, depression and anxiety. Most crystal therapists aim to treat their clients holistically, taking into account all of the individual's physical, mental and emotional needs. Most clients report that a crystal healing session is very calming and relaxing.

There are no known side effects from the use of crystals.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

EFT is short for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is fast becoming the most popular therapy. Adverse life experiences affect how we feel physically and emotionally. These are stored as energy that feels uncomfortable , like a negative feeling that messes up our body's circuitry. The aim of using EFT is to release this wrong energy and set you free. This usually involves you copying the tapping with two fingers on special points on your face and hands, while you repeat special phrases constructed to help you release negative emotions that contribute to your issue. Conditions helped are varied and include: Stopping smoking, weight issues, food issues, childhood issues, abuse, trauma, bereavement, anxiety, anger, depression, phobias, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), physical conditions (eg MS, ME, dyslexia, chronic back pain, psoriasis, eczema, allergies, arthritis, etc), physical pain, pain from a broken heart, insomnia, confidence issues, work performance issues, motivation, pregnancy, birthing, bed-wetting, stuttering, exam stress, and many other conditions with EFT. EFT is gentle enough for use with children and during pregnancy and birth.

Hopi Ear Candling

Quite different from conventional wax candles, a Hopi ear candle is actually a cotton tube, impregnated with beeswax, honey and therapeutic oils, that is painlessly inserted into the ear to draw out impurities, relieve pressure in the head and sinuses, and aid hearing problems. The candles are made from natural ingredients that include sage, St John's Wort, Chamomile and beta-carotene. Otherwise known as thermo-auricular therapy, the original source of the technique seems to be from medical ceremonies performed by a Native American Indian tribe called the Hopis (meaning 'peaceful people'). You are advised to remove makeup and jewellery before the treatment starts. When lit, the ear candle generates a gentle heat which, when combined with the therapeutic oils, produces a light suction action. This is known as the chimney principle, and works by drawing impurities gently to the surface, where they can be removed. None of the candle residue actually goes into the ear. Following the treatment a period of relaxation and a facial massage concentrating on the sinus areas is carried out. Users of Hopi ear candles have reported success in treating balance and inner ear problems, build up of wax, ringing in the ears, tinnitus, hearing difficulties and sinus problems as well as colds, 'flu, sore throats, stress, headaches and migraines. The treatment is suitable for children and is a good alternative for people who have found syringing uncomfortable.

Many clients find the treatment relaxing. As well as the relieved feeling that comes from reduced pressure in the ears and sinuses, clients may experience a general calming effect. Hopi ear candles should not be used if there is any inflammation or infection in the ear and are not suitable for people who have had recent ear surgery, or those with ear grommets or tubes, perforated ear drums, or allergies to any of the products in the candle. Anyone who is receiving medical treatment for any ear condition should always consult their doctor first. Some clients may experience headaches or light popping in the ears after treatment.

Health Kinesiology

Kinesiology was originally developed by an American chiropractor called George Goodheart. He found that by testing muscles before and after he made a correction he achieved better results for his patients. As time progressed he was able to make a connection between various muscles and acupuncture meridians. By testing these muscles the kinesiologist can get a picture of what is happening in your meridian system and how this is affecting you. But, equally, the muscle testing can also show what has affected the meridians in the first place and indicate what is the best way to deal with that stress, be it emotional, physical, environmental, nutritional or mental.

So, kinesiology is a blend of the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and western techniques that allow a kinesiologist to treat you in a truly holistic manner. Each person's session is unique to them. Kinesiology can establish connections between imbalances and can establish which is the priority issue to be dealt with and what is the most effective treatment.

Kinesiology uses a range of gentle yet extremely powerful techniques. These restore balance to your system and create and maintain health and well-being. You can function better on all levels. Kinesiology also allows the kinesiologist to draw on other healing techniques and modalities and integrate them into the session where appropriate and indicated by the muscle response. Some people consider kinesiology to be one of the best methods to use to uncover and help the underlying causes of health problems that are difficult to find by any other means. People of all ages - whatever their level of fitness or health - can benefit, including:
  • babies & children
  • elderly
  • athletes
  • performers
  • injured
  • unwell
Even healthy people will benefit from regular kinesiology treatments. Babies and people who cannot be muscle tested directly can be tested through a surrogate. Kinesiology restores the whole system to balance, facilitating the self-healing process. It can, for example:
  • increase energy and vitality
  • prevent illness
  • help achieve life goals
  • relieve physical pain and tension and improve posture
  • defuse stress and the causes of stress
  • heal traumas
  • enhance brain function and co-ordination
  • discover individual nutritional needs
  • identify food and environmental sensitivities
  • find and clear underlying causes of energy blocks/imbalances/diseases

Reflexology

Reflexology, which has its roots in ancient Egypt, works on the principle that every organ and system of the body has a corresponding point or zone in the feet and hands. As a reflexology practitioner I use light pressure to massage each of the points in the toes, feet and ankles or hands and wrists to promote healing of both body and mind. I will begin by taking details of your medical history and lifestyle. The client will be asked to remove only their footwear. Generally, most clients report that a reflexology treatment is wonderfully relaxing and soothing, and many people fall asleep. Each session will last about an hour and, in most cases, a series of sessions are necessary to resolve any problems. Some clients book a regularly weekly or monthly session as a preventative measure, to keep their systems balanced and in good working order. Reflexology can be used to treat a wide range of disorders including skin and respiratory conditions, migraine, PMS and menopausal problems, chronic fatigue, stress, depression and anxiety. Reflexology can be used both to help with conditions such as, for example, eczema, bronchitis or insomnia for which the client is seeking immediate treatment; or it can be used to keep the body's energy flowing and the mind in balance.

Reflexology should be avoided during the fist three months of pregnancy. As part of the balancing process, some clients find that reflexology encourages the elimination of toxins from the body. Therefore, as this could interfere with any medication you are taking, it is very important to inform the practitioner of any medicinal treatment you are receiving. Also, be sure to tell the Reflexology practitioner if you have a pacemaker, kidney stones or gallstones. If you have a health problem such as high blood pressure, thyroid disease or diabetes; or you have a foot injury, phlebitis, thrombosis or blood clots, have a chat with your doctor before booking a reflexology session.

Reiki

The word Reiki means 'universal life energy' in Japanese, where this therapy originated at the turn of the century. Reiki is based on the premise that illness is caused by a disruption in the body's energy field or life force. By using specially designed symbols and channeling energy, it is believed that the body can be filled with positive energy causing the disease-making negative energy to disappear.

Reiki heals by charging negatively affected parts of the energy field with positive energy. Energy fields in the body each have different vibratory levels and Reiki practitioners use their hands to affect and hopefully rebalance these vibrations in the negatively affected part of the body. As a practitioner I may then rest my hands lightly and gently on your body in a sequence of positions, each one being held for a couple of minutes. Alternatively, I may work 'absently', or away from the body. Reiki can be used to relieve the symptoms of chronic illnesses such as anxiety, insomnia, back pain and arthritis, and it often produces long-term beneficial changes. Aside from treating physical, mental and emotional problems, most clients report that a Reiki treatment feels wonderful, and promotes a sense of relaxation and well being. As a general rule, Reiki can't do any harm because it is a form of non-invasive energy healing and will adjust itself to create the most appropriate effect for each individual person. However, although most people feel peaceful and relaxed after treatment, it can stir up emotions as part of the healing process.
